Our Local Neighborhood
Danville is a wonderful community that is full of many resources and amenities. Located on the Illinois/Indiana state line, it gives residents access to a variety of recreational activities in both states.
Danville is known for its many historical sites such as: The Vermilion County Museum, Vermilion County War Museum, Fischer Theatre, and the Vermilion Chapel, just to name a few. We are also proud of the fact that we knew Abe Lincoln before they called him Mr. President because he practiced law here from 1841–1859.
There are nearly 12,000 acres of parks offering camping, hiking, and several lakes for fishing. The largest lake, Lake Vermilion, offers year-round recreation to the area. If you are a golfer, you will be delighted to know that we have five golf courses and one (Turtle Run Golf Club) is located right across the street from Liberty Village.
The area also offers a variety of accommodations including hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts. As far as restaurants, we have everything from fast food to fine dining, but the area is best known for the Beef House and the Possum Trot Supper Club.
